Illyana Nikolievna Rasputina was born on the Soviet collective farm called the Ust-Ordynski Collective near Lake Baikal in Siberia where she was the youngest of three mutant siblings. Illyana's brothers were the X-Man, Piotr - the X-Man member Colossus, and the cosmonaut, Mikhail.
Somehow, Miss Locke captured Illyana along with several other of the X-Men's loved ones until they rescued her leader Arcade from Dr. Doom. After they were freed, Colossus allowed his sister to stay in the United States with Professor Charles Xavier. After attempting to rescue Sunspot and Magma from the Gladiators, Illyana was taken away by Magneto, per Prof. Xavier's request, to battle the Beyonder, where the Beyonder briefly transferred Illyana's powers to Kitty Pryde. Upon returning, the Beyonder brought-out Illyana's dark half, the Darkchilde.
Darkchilde teleported her friends to Limbo and attacked them until Kitty used Illyana's Soulsword and returned her to her natural form. Upon returning, Illyana again battled the Gladiators for Sunspot and Magma but learned that they were being held by a former New Mutant, Karma. After tracking Karma to Madripoor, then Cairo, the New Mutants were joined by Storm and all of them were possessed by Karma, save Illyana, Warlock, and Mirage. Illyana and Mirage escaped in one of Illyana's teleportation discs to a possible future where the New Mutants were evil and murdering pawns of Karma. They returned and after Mirage was possessed, Illyana and Warlock released Karma of the Shadow King who was controlling her and Karma defeated him on the Astral Plane.
Later, Amora the Enchantress kidnapped the New Mutants to Asgard. While attempting to escape, Magik used her teleportation discs and the Enchantress' magics affected the destination and the New Mutants were separated through time and space. Illyana, though, never left and was a subject of interest for Amora. Amora sensed her magic and separated the Darkchilde from Illyana, sending Darkchilde to gather the other New Mutants as head of her Nightgaunts. After the New Mutants defeated Amora, Illyana sent her to Limbo, and the X-Men rescued Illyana and her teammates.

Born into an extremely wealthy family, young Warren attended a prestigious East Coast boarding school where he roomed with Cameron Hodge. Warren's life changed forever the day he began sprouting wings from his shoulder blades, but he hid them under his clothes. Later, when fire struck his dormitory, Warren discovered while escaping that his wings enabled him to fly. Donning a blond wig and long nightshirt to disguise himself as an anonymous "angel," Warren saved the other students. Warren soon became the costumed crime-fighting Avenging Angel and attracted the attention of Professor Xavier who recruited him as a founding member of the heroic, mutant X-Men team.
After his father was killed by agents of the criminal Dazzler, Warren investigated and was shocked to learn that the Dazzler was his uncle Burt, who had been using his brother's company as a cover for his crimes. In the ensuing battle, Warren as Angel dropped the Dazzler from a great height and presumed him dead; but Burt survived, and plotted to marry Warren's mother Kathryn in an effort to secure the family fortune. Furthermore, Burt had arranged for Kathryn to be secretly, gradually poisoned. Angel and the X-Men foiled Burt's plan, though too late to save Kathryn.
When the sentient island Krakoa captured the X-Men, Professor X assembled a new squad of X-Men to rescue them. After this, most of the original students - including Angel - left the team. Warren inherited his family fortune and used a portion of it to fund a Los Angeles-based super-team, the Champions. Warren revealed to the general public that he was the Angel, though his connection to Xavier's school remained secret. The Champions later disbanded, and Angel went on to fight with the X-Men for a time and later joined the Defenders before reuniting with the X-Men again in recent years.

A Bith alien from the planet Clak'dor VII, Figrin D'an is the Kloo Horn playing front man of the Mos Eisley Cantina band the Modal Nodes, commonly nicknamed the Bith Band. Figrin is an avid gambler, and he pays off his debts by playing gigs, while trying to keep his band mates out of trouble. Like most of his alien race, Figrin remains neutral in the politically complex Republic, preferring to stay outside the conflict between the Rebels and the Imperials.
Before their days playing at the cantina, the Modal Nodes, like so many bands, had their ups and downs as their front man, Figrin D'an, struggled to master his demons. The band accepted a contract to be the house musicians for Jabba the Hutt, but once they realized Jabba's reputation for executing "employees" who displeased him, they began to regret taking the job. Breaching their contract, Figrin D'an took a lucrative offer to play at a wedding, knowing that the job would give them enough money to escape from Jabba's Palace. On the night of the wedding, Figrin's penchant for gambling had him placing their payment on a game, much to the chagrin of his band mates. Luckily for them, Jabba had heard of their breach of contract and came after the band just as a troop of Stormtroopers raided the casino, creating a distracting fight that allowed the band to escape. Soon after the Modal Nodes reached safety, Figrin D'an lost control of his gambling again, this time wagering the band's instruments. He lost. At the band's insistence, Figrin played another hand in hopes of winning back their equipment and was finally successful. After the incident, Figrin cleaned up his act, and the band played throughout the galaxy before landing their regular gig in the Mos Eisley Cantina.

One of the most iconic characters ever envisioned, The Terminator was brought to life on the big screen through the artistry and imagination of James Cameron and Stan Winston. They faced a particular difficult challenge with casting the central character, the T-800. The actor needed to have physical presence and somehow convey true menace and purpose while remaining robotic and stoic. They found perfection with Arnold Schwarzenegger, the famed bodybuilder and actor. Schwarzenegger pulled it off beautifully, and The Terminator became one of film's most formidable villains, a near-unstopable behemoth.
