Though not bound to honor the edicts of the law, Josh adhered to a personal code of honor, like many other lone cowboy heroes of the era. He toted a specially designed weapon which he affectionately referred to as the "Mare's Laig" − a .40 gauge sawed-off carbine which handles like a pistol, but packs the punch of a rifle. In 94 episodes over three seasons, Wanted: Dead or Alive became one of television’s most beloved Westerns.
